Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the UVA Jewish Studies Program is pleased to offer current students, both undergraduate and graduate, as well as university faculty a fall grant opportunity. Individual research and study projects are eligible for amounts ranging from $250 up to $1,000 in funding assistance. Grants may be used for the purchase of study materials, research resources, translation and editing support, and other related academic expenses. Travel consistent with university guidelines will also be supported.

Applications for these awards will be accepted on a rolling basis until October 1

Criteria for the award include:

  1. Current enrolled students and university faculty in all UVA schools are eligible to apply.

  2. The proposed research must articulate a clear, focused objective and use of the funds for purposes related to the field of Jewish Studies, broadly understood.

  3. Students without prior experience in the academic field of Jewish Studies are especially encouraged to apply. When necessary, the Jewish Studies Program can arrange faculty mentorship opportunities to facilitate successful grant experiences.

  4. Recipients of the award will be requested to provide a report with details of the work that was enabled by the award.

Applicants should submit a CV, a 1–2-page research proposal, and a basic budget.

Applications should be sent via email to jewishstudiesprogram@virginia.edu any time before October 1, 5PM. Please direct any questions to james.loeffler@virginia.edu.
