Caroline Rody, Professor of English and director of the English Distinguished Majors Program, teaches courses across the spectrum of multiethnic American literatures, including a survey of Jewish American fiction and a course on the historical imagination in contemporary Jewish fiction.

Her books are The Interethnic Imagination: Roots and Passages in Contemporary Asian American Fiction (Oxford, 2009) and The Daughter's Return: African-American and Caribbean Women's Fictions of History (Oxford, 2001). Among her articles is “Jewish Post-Holocaust Fiction and the Magical Realist Turn,” in Moments of Magical Realism in U.S. Ethnic Literatures (2012). She is at work on two projects, an essay to be titled “On Magical Books: Isaac Bashevis Singer, Bruno Schulz, and the Book-within-the Book in Contemporary Jewish Post-Holocaust Fiction” and a book manuscript on a new subject, “The Transatlantic Great House:  On American, English, and Irish Great House Fiction.”
