Paul and Dorothy Grob Memorial Lecture Series on American Jewish Life
The children of Paul and Dorothy Grob, inspired by their parents’ dedication, have endowed the Paul and Dorothy Grob Memorial Lecture Series at the University of Virginia in their memory. Every spring, the Jewish Studies Program invites an eminent scholar to Charlottesville to deliver a community-wide presentation on important issues relating to Jewish-American life. The scholar also participates in symposia, workshops, and other artistic events with faculty and students in the Jewish Studies Program. The 2020 Grob lecture was held on Oct. 29, 2020, when Professor Ronit Stahl of the University of California, Berkeley spoke on, "Lessons from RBG: Jews and Religious Freedom in America." The 2021 Grob Memorial Lecture was held on April 6, 2021, when Professor Martha Minow, former Dean of Harvard Law School, spoke on, "The Nuremberg Trials at 75: Lessons and Legacies." With over 500 people attending this online event, Professor Minow's talk was a highlight of the UVA spring semester. You can watch the video and read the transcript of the event here.
