Eli Bardash
My name is Eli Bardash, and I am honored to be an Undergraduate Jewish Studies Fellow here at the University of Virginia. I am a second-year student from Falls Church, VA, with an intended major in Government and intended minors in History and Mathematics. I plan to apply to the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy to pursue a Master of Public Policy degree after my time as an undergraduate. During the last two summers, I have worked as a counselor at Camp Ramah in New England, a Jewish sleepaway camp, and I am currently working on a campaign for the Virginia House of Delegates in Albemarle County.
I was born and raised Jewish, so obviously I’ve been exposed to broader Jewish studies for many years, going back all the way to preschool. My academic interest in Jewish studies began in middle school, and after taking four years away from Jewish studies attending a public high school, I’ve so far taken two Jewish Studies courses at UVA, Modern Jewish Thought (RELJ 3170) last fall and Modern Jewish History (HIEU 2102) this semester. I enjoy learning more about my people, traditions, and history, and have been fortunate enough to have had many such positive academic experiences. I’m excited to be an Undergraduate Jewish Studies Fellow to hear other great perspectives on Jewish Studies and Judaism more generally, and I look forward to contributing to a healthy academic environment in a field I care deeply about.
