Grace Shawah
My name is Grace Shawah, and I am a 3rd year double majoring in Public Policy and Global Development Studies, with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. I have taken many classes in the Religious Studies Department here at UVA, and have enjoyed the variety of topics and nuanced perspectives that each class offers, both in the Jewish context and beyond. Most recently, I worked at a foundation in Morocco with one of their programs dedicated to interfaith relations in the country, and had the pleasure of attending “The Jewish Days of Tangier” Conference held in early June. The event focused on the Jewish legacy in Morocco, as well as the numerous places that Moroccan Jews settled and established upon leaving the country.
